Spring Logic

Well, it's the first day of spring in the US, so I did a logic puzzle in honor of spring. It is kind of confusing but I'll see how you guys do. Oh, BTW, on Saturday, I will post answers to all the puzzles that I posted this week, and, TWO NEW TRAVELERS PUZZLES. That's right, TWO, and then, enjoy Easter on Sunday also. So, here it is, spring logic:

While traveling around the world, you find that many different places have different seasons at the same time. Since it is the first day of spring in America, you wish to find the other nations where it is spring as well. You encounter four people, each from a different place. Which person(s) are from a nation where it is currently spring and what hemisphere (eastern or western) is each person’s nation is on? People from the eastern hemisphere in places where it is spring and the western hemisphere in places where it is not spring tell the truth. Everyone else lies.

Person A:

  • Where D comes from it is spring.

  • B tells the truth.

Person B:

  • A comes from the western hemisphere.

  • Where C comes from it is not spring.

Person C:

  • D tells the truth

  • B is a liar.

Person D:

  • B and I come from different hemispheres.

  • Where A comes from it is spring.

This puzzle is a bit confusing so use this to help:

Truth: East and spring, west and not spring
Lie: East and not spring, west and spring

Answers will be posted on Saturday

  • Well, here is what I think:
A comes from the western hemisphere where it's not spring (he says the truth)
B comes from the eastern hemisphere where it's spring (he says the truth)
C comes from eastern hemisphere where it's not spring (he is a liar)
D comes from the western hemisphere whre it's spring (he is a liar)
Tell me if it's true!! :-)

  • Well, good logic, but there is one issue. D says "B and I come from different hemispheres" but if D is a liar, then that must be false, meaning they come from the same hemisphere. You're very close though.
